Overview
Department: Mercy - Nursing: 5N Surgical Telemetry Status: Part time | Benefits Eligible: Yes | Hours Per Week: 24 Pay Range: $34.90 - $52.35 per hour. This position is Sign On Bonus eligible. Unit details: 5 North is a 26-bed General Surgery specialty unit, a Med-Surg unit with heavy surgical volume. Services include elective bariatric weight loss surgery, general surgery (appendectomies, cholecystectomies, small bowel obstruction, etc.), foot and ankle ortho (including total ankle replacements and infected foot wounds), and urology surgery. Nurses gain experience with drains, wound vacs, central lines, NGT, DHT, and other surgical care tasks. The RN Clinical Nurse I provides professional nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the supervision of the nursing leader. Maintains a safe work environment and remains clinically and professionally competent for the patient population served. Essential Functions
Collects data relevant to the patient’s health; analyzes assessment data to identify actual or potential diagnoses, problems, and issues. Identifies expected outcomes and develops a plan to achieve them. Implements the plan, coordinates care, and promotes a safe environment. Delegates elements of care to appropriate healthcare workers in accordance with policy and practice parameters. Evaluates progress toward goals and outcomes. Practices with cultural diversity and inclusion in mind. Communicates effectively and collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Leads within the professional practice setting and integrates evidence and research into practice. Contributes to quality nursing practice and evaluates practice against standards and regulations. Uses resources to plan and sustain safe, effective, and fiscally responsible nursing services. Practices in an environmentally safe and ethical manner; supports shared governance and ongoing quality improvement. Physical Requirements Walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must lift up to 35 pounds. Good communication, vision, hearing, and touch. Finger dexterity and critical thinking. Requires Physical Abilities Testing. Education, Experience and Certifications Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred. Current Basic Life Support per policy. Current RN license or temporary RN license; if residing in an NLC state, meet home state licensure requirements; otherwise, licensure required where the RN works. Benefits and Total Rewards
