Your day at NTT DATA: The Data Center Technician provides a working level of data center knowledge and is responsible for the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of the data center electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems. The Data Center Technician maintains and follows the processes that maximize customer uptime in the most cost-effective way. Ensures that data center problems are identified and repaired quickly, that contractors deliver quality services, and that internal customer demands are met. Responsibilities

Develops creative approaches to keep operational costs to a minimum, improve efficiency, and implement new strategies. Mechanical responsibilities include chilled water systems and components, HVAC systems such as rooftop units, CRAC/CRAH units, and humidification systems. Electrical responsibilities include electrical/critical power distribution from the Utility/Generator main switchgear through the UPS systems out to the customer load. Fire Life Safety responsibilities include wet sprinkler systems and pre-action sprinkler systems as well as their associated detection devices. Tests performance of electromechanical assemblies and electronic voltmeters. Reads blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical orders to determine methods and sequences of processes. Inspects parts for surface defects. Installs electrical or electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, using hand tools. Aligns, fits or assembles component parts, using hand or power tools. Operates, monitors, maintains, and responds to abnormal conditions in facilities systems (Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Life Safety, Building Monitoring and Control). Analyzes systems to ensure best practices for internal and external customers. Provides feedback to DCO Engineering on the effectiveness of existing standards and processes. Works with contractors and consultants to review quality assurance for system expansions, corrections, and upgrades. Works with the CF Ops Lead Technician to track and complete a preventive and predictive maintenance program. Ensures data center operates at maximum operational efficiency, including analyzing operating conditions, recommending new technologies, improving efficiency and reducing costs. Manages systems to avoid unplanned customer-impacting events. Determines maintenance requirements for mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems with the CF Ops Lead Technician. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular, predictable attendance is essential to satisfactory performance. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems used in a data center environment, including electrical distribution and layout, Transformers, PLCs, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, STS, ATS, PDU, Chilled Water Systems, CRAC/CRAHs, Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems. Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and compliance issues as well as building codes related to fire life safety. Industrial safety best practices (lockout/tagout, arc flash protection, OSHA and state regulations). Familiarity with data trending/tracking and analysis and the ability to use PC-based monitoring systems. Ability to perform Hands and Eye requests (Tape Rotation, Rack and Stack, inventory hardware, power cycle devices, patch cable install/remove). Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems including: Chilled Water Systems, Large Centrifugal Chillers, Cooling Towers, Heat Exchangers, Water Treatment Systems, VFDs and Pumps, HVAC equipment, CRAC/CRAHs, Humidification Systems, Water Heaters, Water/Air filters, BMS and PLC controls, Emergency Standby Diesel Generators, Fuel/Oil systems, 480/277 and 208/120 distribution, Static UPS, Double Interlock Pre-Action Systems. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). Effective communication with customers and internal staff; ability to work in a team environment. Ability to coordinate, supervise, and communicate with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades. Ability to learn quickly and address issues during and after normal hours. Ability to operate in a process-driven team environment and logically analyze and solve problems. Ability to multitask multiple projects and operate hand and power tools. Ability to operate electrical tools such as a multimeter or infrared camera; forklift experience is a plus. Comfortable in a high-stress, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. Willing to work on shifts that may include nights, holidays, and some weekends. Critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills. Education & Experience

High School Diploma required. Associate’s Degree or equivalent education and/or 2 years in a mechanical/electrical position within critical facilities (data center, hospital, semiconductor, or power plant) preferred. CPR/First Aid and NFPA70E certification during employment. OSHA-approved forklift certification or ability to obtain after hire. Physical Requirements

Primarily walking, standing, and bending; some sitting. Effective verbal, visual, and listening communication. Close visual work on computer terminals. Dexterity to operate equipment and computer peripherals. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders and work on raised platforms. Work Conditions

Data Center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises. Extensive daily workstation or computer usage. On-site work; telecommuting not permitted. Special Requirements

Willingness to be part of after-hours notification and escalation protocol. Must wear leather close-toed shoes with a solid rubber sole. Position may require use of a personal mobile device; a monthly stipend may be provided for device use. NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Hourly base salary for this position is $27.80 - $41.60 and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with local wage and hour requirements. Regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; paid time off, medical/dental/vision benefits, life and disability insurance, flexible spending, and 401k plan are provided.
