Applications for each DLE II vacancy throughout districts 1 - 7 will be considered. The Driver License Examiner II performs advanced level duties in addition to testing and evaluating applicants for motor vehicle driver licenses. This position will assist Senior Examiner with managing the office serving as a "Lead" Examiner. Work includes assisting the Senior Examiner with troubleshooting problem situations including but not limited to making a decision regarding the credentialing process of a driver's license or I.D. card. The Driver License Examiner II will provide temporary or interim supervision in the absence of the Senior Examiner, which will require this person to fully understand all policies and procedures related to the credentialing process and office management; assist with writing standard operating procedures; assists in the development and implementation of new initiatives; participates on special projects. Work also includes assisting the Senior Examiner with Facility Management responsibilities such as coordinating building and grounds maintenance, parking, equipment, supplies, etc.; serves as an adjunct instructor providing instruction in the office for new examiners prior to them attending the Basic Driver License Examiner School; Mentor new Examiners; provide technical advice and guidance; Ensuring the examiners and all other employees, along with the Senior Examiner, provide excellent customer service and office efficiencies are also a function of this position and must be able to work independently and be able to make sound, independent decisions. The program area for this position includes one or more of the following: experience working as a Driver License Examiner I, customer service experience with diverse groups, experience providing detailed information to the public, experience working in settings that require interviewing individuals to gather information and/or working knowledge of DMV policies and procedures. Management prefers applicants with the following: Experience examining and evaluating acceptable documents required for licenses and identification cards and verifying and/or substantiating the evidence of an applicant's lawful residence status Considerable knowledge of motor vehicle operators licensing procedures, requirements, Motor Vehicle laws, State and Federal mandates, standards for issuing driver licenses and identification cards Considerable experience explaining policy, procedure, and laws to a diverse clientele Working knowledge used in receiving, accounting, disbursing payments including banking processes Experience working as a driver license examiner Additional Expectations: Must attend, complete, and pass a certification training requiring overnight stay Monday-Friday for up to two weeks or 10 business days. Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver License. Must have a valid N.C. Driver License with no suspensions or revocations within the past 10 years in any state for any motor vehicle-related offense and no more than 5 active points. Bachelor's degree from appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
