Overview
Lead E-Commerce Developer role at Johnson Health Tech North America. The IT team is an expanding group building the e-commerce experience for the Bowflex, Horizon Fitness, Schwinn Fitness, and JRNY brands. You will develop and maintain Shopify Plus themes, manage third-party app integrations, and support store operations with tools and optimizations. Collaborate closely with design, marketing, and operations to ensure a frictionless user experience and high quality architecture. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Liquid, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and Shopifys ecosystem, with a strong focus on automation, performance, and reliability. Responsibilities Shopify Plus Development: Develop and maintain Shopify Plus themes using Liquid, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3/SASS. Build and customize templates and features, including PDPs, PLPs, cart flows, and checkout enhancements. Integrate third-party apps and APIs; manage custom app development when needed. Support custom integrations with SAP, CRM, and business partners via AWS microservices. Optimize site speed, SEO, and mobile performance using best practices. Back-End Engineering: Manage Shopify store configurations, product data, collections, and international/multi-currency setups. Implement automation tools (e.g., Matrixify) for content and product updates. Lead integrations with ERP, PIM, and reporting systems (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Shopify Store Management: Support merchandising and operations teams by building tools and processes to streamline store management. Monitor and improve store performance metrics using tools like Google Analytics, Shopify Reports, and third-party apps. Manage app installations, updates, and configurations to extend store functionality. Coordinate with customer service and fulfillment teams to resolve technical or operational issues.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Provide technical mentorship for developers and coordinate with UX/UI designers, WA analysts, and business systems analysts. Maintain Git-based workflows and deployment best practices. Stay informed on Shopify Plus features, roadmap updates, and e-commerce trends. Offer technical insights and contribute to e-commerce growth strategy.
Requirements
Education: Bachelors degree in computer science, web development, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience Required: 5+ years of experience with Shopify Plus development; Proficient in Liquid, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS/SASS; strong understanding of Shopify architecture, APIs (Storefront, Admin, REST and GraphQL), Shopify Flow, Webhooks, and theme structure; hands-on experience managing Shopify store settings, products, collections, and configurations; familiarity with Git and deployment workflows; expertise in performance optimization and SEO for e-commerce platforms; experience with third-party integrations, apps, and analytics platforms.
Experience Preferred: Familiarity with headless commerce and frameworks like Next.js, Hydrogen, or Remix; experience with content and product automation tools (e.g., Matrixify); understanding of digital marketing principles (email flows, CRO, UTM tracking); experience in a DTC e-commerce business; international/multi-currency Shopify setups; Shopify or e-commerce certifications; experience with Braze; familiarity with analytics dashboards or BI tools.
Skills
