We are seeking a compassionate and qualified

Remote School Social Worker

to provide virtual social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health support to K12 students across New Mexico. In this role, you will collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to address barriers to learning, support student well-being, and ensure access to educational services. The ideal candidate is licensed in New Mexico, experienced with school-based services, and comfortable working in a fully remote environment. Key Responsibilities:

Provide virtual individual and group counseling to students with social-emotional, behavioral, or mental health needs

Conduct virtual risk assessments and safety planning in collaboration with school teams and families

Support students with IEPs and 504 Plans by delivering related services as outlined in their plans

Assist in the development of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

Act as a liaison between schools, families, and community agencies to ensure students receive comprehensive support

Collaborate with general and special education staff to address attendance issues, crisis situations, and trauma-informed care

Participate in IEP, 504, and Student Assistance Team (SAT/MTSS) meetings virtually

Maintain accurate documentation and comply with FERPA, HIPAA, IDEA, and New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) guidelines

Promote equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices in student support services

Qualifications:

Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program

Valid New Mexico LMSW or LCSW license

(Required)

New Mexico PED School Social Worker License

(Level I or Level II)

Minimum of 12 years of experience in school-based or child/adolescent mental health services

Strong understanding of special education processes, trauma-informed practices, and school systems

Proficiency with virtual communication tools and counseling platforms

Reliable internet connection and a secure, private home workspace

Preferred Skills:

Experience working in virtual or hybrid school environments

Familiarity with New Mexico student data systems (e.g., STARS, PowerSchool, etc.)

Bilingual (Spanish/English or Navajo/English) highly desirable

Knowledge of community resources across New Mexico
