Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate, organized, and people-oriented
Community Outreach Coordinator
to join our team. This role will focus on engaging the public, volunteers, and community partners in LOF’s mission through outreach events, presentations, and communications. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, has strong organizational skills, and is enthusiastic about ocean conservation.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement
Research events, organizations, fundraising opportunities that match LOF’s mission. Represent LOF at community events, fairs, and school or partner programs. Build and strengthen relationships with local schools, community groups, businesses, and partner organizations. Coordinate presentations, talks, and outreach opportunities to raise awareness of LOF’s mission. Coordinate with LOF team to organize and promote outreach and education events such as
KelpFest , tidepool tours, citizen science projects and volunteer appreciation activities. Coordinate and organize public fundraising events. Support and organize LOF programs such as
Tides of Change
speaker series, tidepool tours, school talks, and restoration events. Help design and distribute outreach materials including flyers, presentations, and fact sheets. Communications
Provide stories, photos, and updates from outreach activities for LOF’s social media, newsletter, and website. Author and coordinate annual report. Serve as primary contact for media. Assist in creating engaging content to showcase LOF’s impact and community engagement. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, education, communications, or related field (or equivalent experience). Prior experience in outreach, public engagement, education, or volunteer coordination preferred. Excellent communication (writing and speaking) and interpersonal skills; comfortable speaking to groups and engaging diverse audiences. Strong social media skills (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects. Flexible schedule, with willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends. Passion for ocean conservation and environmental stewardship. To Apply
