Heavy Truck Driver (2025-22659):
Bowhead is actively seeking a full-time Truck Driver with a CLASS A CDL and Passenger Endorsement to support the Logistics Readiness Center (LRC) at Fort Jackson, SC. The role involves safely transporting passengers over designated routes, both locally and over longer distances.
This position requires a Class A CDL with a Passenger Endorsement and includes working various shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) as well as weekends. Some personnel may be required to flex between shifts based on operational needs.

Responsibilities
- Drive motor vehicles ranging from sedans to 52-passenger buses on scheduled short trips and transporting personnel.
- Observe established time schedules, follow prescribed routes, and observe speed limits. Control the loading and unloading of passengers and/or equipment, ensuring maximum capacity is observed and only authorized persons are transported.
- Complete vehicle utilization records including miles operated, hours operated, POL added, and number of passengers transported.
- Complete driver’s accident reports when necessary.
- Report any misbehavior of passengers. Perform driver’s maintenance in accordance with established regulations.
- Operate water trucks and van trucks of less than 4-ton capacity, with up to four-wheel drive, to transport drinking water, articles, and materials throughout the post.
- Observe established time schedules and determine the most practical and safe routes, observing speed limits in various areas and on highways.
- Supervise loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring maximum capacity regulations are observed and only authorized cargo is transported.
- Complete vehicle utilization and service records, including miles, hours, and maintenance.
- Perform driver’s maintenance as per regulations.
- Perform maintenance and upkeep of the physical work building and other tasks assigned by supervisor.
- Operate other vehicles for which qualified and licensed, when required. Keep vehicles clean inside and out.
Qualifications
- Possess a CDL with passenger endorsements and additional endorsements for operating buses over 26,000 pounds and liquid transporters with capacities of 1,000 gallons or more.
- High school Diploma or GED required.
- At least two years of driving experience with a CDL preferred.
- Familiarity with the military is preferred but not required.
- Effective communication skills with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
- Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Demands
- Frequently lift items weighing up to 30 pounds; occasionally lift up to 65 pounds with assistance.
- Stand, walk, and sit for prolonged periods.
- Use arms, hands, and fingers for pulling, positioning materials, sewing, and using tools.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust Level (NACI). Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessary.
