General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate will perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists Customers and is register-trained; greets Customers by eye contact, smiles, and says hello throughout the Store; thanks Customers at every register transaction.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; responds to Customer Service calls immediately and escalates to Store Leadership as needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high-touch areas) to maintain merchandise, Customer, and Team areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and efficiently merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandises items according to monthly presentation guidelines, and maintains merchandise/brand name familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understands Loss Prevention Awareness program, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follows all MOS policies and cash handling procedures with accuracy and urgency.
  • Maximizes productivity by following Store best practices and minimizing steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store; regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
