The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Data Analyst to support business process and performance improvement efforts for the Naval Ship Maintenance Community. The role involves analyzing data challenges, producing visualizations, reports, and insights to measure performance and support decision-making.

This position is onsite in Portsmouth, VA at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, with travel to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, WA; Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, HI; Washington Navy Yard, D.C.; and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, ME.

Responsibilities:

  1. Gather, cleanse, curate, and standardize data for analysis and insight development.
  2. Analyze large datasets and develop visualizations, dashboards, and metrics for end-users.
  3. Enhance analytic capabilities and modify tools to support organizational growth.
  4. Translate non-technical requirements into technical specifications.
  5. Perform data mapping, lineage activities, and document information flows.
  6. Build data models and business glossaries from multiple sources.
  7. Serve as a subject matter expert in data and metrics processing.
  8. Participate in software development, maintenance, and analysis processes.
  9. Conduct business and technical analyses to identify improvement opportunities.
  10. Interface with clients to capture and translate requirements.
  11. Maintain professional knowledge through ongoing education and networking.
  12. Develop predictive models using statistical methods.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Active Secret-level security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, or Data Science.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Naval Maintenance, database design, and data analytics.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Oracle, Tableau, Power BI, Python, R, and related tools.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Pay Range:

The salary range is $68,400 to $143,700, influenced by various factors including experience, location, and education. We offer comprehensive benefits, including healthcare, retirement, education, and time off.
