Retention Marketing Manager
who can blend technical expertise with creative instinct. This role is about turning data into meaningful customer connections through email, SMS, and loyalty programs, with a sharp focus on producing the Shinola Newsletter, our flagship communication that highlights new product drops, brand storytelling, and local retail happenings. The ideal candidate is detail-obsessed, highly organized, and excited about analytics as they are about the latest Shinola release. You’ll sit on the Ecommerce team, report to the Director of Ecommerce, and collaborate with nearly every corner of the company. This is a visible, high-impact role based out of our Detroit headquarters and works across many departments. Key Responsibilities
Manage the full lifecycle of retention campaigns—from concept to deployment to performance analysis Use customer insights, data, seasonal trends, and storytelling instincts to shape product marketing strategies Brief, guide, and collaborate with 6–8 designers and copywriters on weekly cycles to create 20+ emails and SMS campaigns per month Balance company initiatives with customer needs in email and SMS merchandising Partner with cross-functional teams to align planning, product launches, and brand priorities Implement A/B tests and other optimization strategies to deepen engagement and loyalty Identify process improvements and build systems that strengthen launch strategy and team alignment Qualifications
2+ years of experience in email and SMS marketing Hands-on experience with an ESP (Klaviyo experience a plus) Meticulous attention to detail; project management background a plus Excellent written and verbal communication skills Comfortable working with Google Analytics and similar tools Experience with project management platforms (Asana, Trello, etc.) Proficiency in Google and Microsoft Suite (Excel in particular) Physical requirements
Able to sit and work at a desk and operate a computer for several hours at a time Use hands and fingers to use a computer Reach up, across, or down to retrieve resources See, talk, and hear The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk The employee is occasionally required to move or lift up to 10 pounds Specific hearing abilities required by this job include hearing voices through telephone handsets or headsets and through face-to-face conversation Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to read information on a computer screen or on a printed page Benefits
