Job Title: Construction Manager – Fiber Infrastructure (Underground)
Location: Rural Northern California
Job Type: Contract (Includes mileage compensation & weekly per diem)
Per Diem: $625/week
Vehicle Requirement: 4WD (monthly mileage reimbursement included)

Position Overview

We are hiring a field-based Construction Manager to lead a major underground fiber installation project across mountainous and rural terrain in Northern California. This large-scale build spans over 150 miles and involves substantial trenching and directional drilling work. The ideal candidate is a hands-on construction leader who can balance in-field supervision with customer communication and progress reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily construction activities for underground fiber deployment.
Manage and coordinate subcontractors and field inspectors.
Ensure crews have required materials, equipment, and documentation to execute work on schedule.
Monitor field progress and ensure construction quality meets project standards.
Serve as the main point of contact for the client, providing regular updates and reporting.
Generate and maintain detailed progress and milestone tracking using Excel.
Maintain consistent presence on-site while handling key office-based administrative tasks.

Required Qualifications

Extensive experience in underground utility construction, including trenching and directional drilling.
Demonstrated ability to manage field teams and subcontractor performance.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for project tracking and reporting.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Comfortable working in rural, mountainous terrain and remote environments.
Must possess a 4WD vehicle (monthly mileage allowance provided).
Proven experience serving as the liaison between field teams and project stakeholders.
