Principal Consultant, Biologist/Regulatory Specialist, Power and Renewables. ERM is seeking an experienced biologist/regulatory specialist to join our Capital Project Delivery service offering. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting and leading environmental permitting efforts with California utility companies and technical expertise leading natural resource permitting, CEQA/NEPA, and large-scale capital projects in California. The role focuses on selling and delivering services to support development of complex projects and to advance ERM’s reputation in this area. ERM’s Capital Project Delivery (CPD) team focuses on supporting development of projects in the power, technology, telecommunications, mining, chemical, transport, and infrastructure sectors. Our goal is to help clients achieve project success from planning through construction and operation, and to manage environmental, social, health, and cultural resources impacts. Responsibilities

Serve as Project Biologist/Regulatory Specialist for environmental impact assessment under CEQA- and NEPA-related activities and natural resource permitting in support of ERM clients’ capital projects (e.g., data centers, power generation, electrical transmission, renewable energy projects). Contribute to preparing technical studies and impact assessment documents, including Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs) and Biological Constraints Reports, serving as program manager, lead technical expert, or QA/QC. Lead programs to develop permit strategies, specify best management practices, and prepare permit applications; negotiate conditions with applicable state and federal agencies. Direct permitting and compliance for telecom, energy infrastructure, and other linear development projects with emphasis on permits and consultations with agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, California Coastal Commission, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, California Fish and Wildlife Service, and Regional Water Quality Control Boards. Collaborate with Account Directors/Managers on client account development, sales, and delivery of ERM’s services to deliver strategic value in the electric/gas transmission and generation markets; identify client needs and position ERM capabilities accordingly. Mentor staff consultants and oversee project work, identify emerging talent, and help team members reach their full potential. Work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment to build ERM’s global business and lead client and practice teams; drive innovation in Impact Assessment and Planning to differentiate ERM in the market. Meet health & safety standards, financial targets, project budgets and schedules, client satisfaction, and risk/contractual requirements. Qualifications

BS/MS in biology, environmental science or related field. 6+ years of consulting experience, including substantial experience with the electric/gas transmission and generation markets in California. Business acumen to understand risks and opportunities for enterprise-wide solutions. Track record of delivering multi-million dollar environmental programs or winning large projects. Established relationships with California utility companies (notably PG&E, SCE, and Sempra). Ability to cultivate new client relationships with Bay Area technology, media, and telecommunications clients, in collaboration with Account Directors. Strong understanding of impact assessment and CEQA-related best practices in the California electric/gas market; technical credibility with regulators. People leadership skills; ability to manage and grow a team. Positive, collaborative mindset and alignment with ERM’s global goals. Note: Pay range and compensation may vary based on education, qualifications, experience, location, performance, and organizational needs. This role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
