Overview

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the financial operations. This individual is responsible for managing general ledger activities, preparing financial reports, overseeing month-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Controller and department heads to provide accurate and timely financial insights that support the delivery of exceptional resident care and community operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• Reconcile accounts, including bank, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
• Assist in developing annual operating budgets and forecasts for the senior living community.
• Monitor budget-to-actual performance, analyze variances, and provide actionable insights to management.
• Oversee and support accounts receivable and billing processes, including resident charges, insurance reimbursements, and collections.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Assist with annual audits, preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Partner with community leadership to provide financial analysis that supports operational decision-making.
• Support continuous process improvements within the accounting function to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or progress toward certification preferred.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in senior living, healthcare, or real estate industries.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
