Senior Head Guard

ensures safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the deck and surrounding areas of the aquatics facility. Senior Head Guards must additionally comply with all of the roles and responsibilities of Head Lifeguards. Responsibilities: Create a safe environment for members and participants through active deck scanning, being on time and ready to respond quickly and appropriately while role modeling safe behavior. Engage members and participants in effective, age-appropriate communication using the Y voice attributes. The down guard will actively engage with and encourage members during swim tests and lessons. Develop intentional relationships and engage members in a way to help them meet the seven Cause Measurement goals. Adhere to Aquatics Leading Practice Manual. Using the Y voice attributes provide appropriate feedback to participants and members as needed. Build relationships with members, participants and volunteers. Promote teamwork and cooperative effort. Maintain a clean, safe work area, practice good safety habits. Qualifications: Age – Must be 18 years of age or older upon hire. Must be able to differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue and green). Ability to coach and give feedback in a constructive manner. Basic computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated skills in planning, time management, flexibility, organization and independent work proficiency. Adapt to multiple learning styles to assist in the development of staff. Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome. Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations. Schedule: This is a full-time position of 40 hours weekly. Flexibility in scheduling is required. Roughly 20 hours will be spent lifeguarding while the remaining will be spent administratively and managing the deck. How to Apply: External candidates must complete an online application.
