Hiring Range $16.41 - $18.87 Hourly Performs skilled work in focused and concentrated areas of the Parks and Recreation Department. Under general supervision, an employee in this class performs skilled work involving various areas of parks and recreation. Such areas are defined as Train Operator; Splash Pad Operator; Building Attendants, AV and Technical Operators, Bus Driver, Athletic Specialist, or Concessions Supervisors. An employee in this class performs related work as required. Essential Job Functions: Train / Carousel Operations Specifically Includes: Opening and closing of facilities Driving and operating train through Village Park Operating the Carousel Performing daily safety inspections of train, rails, and carousel. Daily maintenance and upkeep of train, carousel, and associated areas. Maintaining daily work records, including safety reports and attendance records Working independently to provide superior customer service. Splash Pad Operations Specifically Include: Opening and closing of splash pad and restroom facility Assisting with the maintenance and daily operations of the pumps and mechanical functions of the facility Checking water quality as needed per health department regulations Enforcing rules and regulations specific to the splash pad Ensuring safety of visitors Controlling admissions; selling concessions as needed Maintaining daily work records, including revenue reports and attendance records Working independently to provide superior customer service to guests and patrons Building Attendant Specifically Includes: Opening and closing of park and recreation facilities during rentals, meetings, and programs Handling all aspects of building rentals, including, but not limited to, room set-up and tear-down, audio-visual needs in some facilities, ensuring security of other areas of building, custodial duties as needed Communicating with users to address needs and accommodating users within departmental guidelines Enforcing policies and procedures during rental and meeting times Ensuring smooth transitions between users and addressing specific needs to each user Performing custodial duties as needed AV & Technical Operations Specifically Include: Technical aptitude and detailed understanding of how to use audiovisual equipment required Acts as primary individual responsible for the set up, operation, and breakdown of basic to high end Audio, Video, Projection, and Lighting equipment for departmental programs and special events Assists with proper security, storage, transportation, and maintenance of equipment. Accounts for all inventories before and after each event Athletic Operations Specifically Includes: Assisting Athletic Coordinator with team and field scheduling On-site supervision at athletic games and practices Enforcing policies and procedures during games and practices. Assisting with athletic equipment inventories, maintenance, and upkeep Assists with coaching as needed Communicating with coaches, parents, and players to address needs within departmental guidelines. Must possess and maintain a NC Class C Driver License for the duration of employment with a 3-year safe driving history verified by a NC Division of Motor Vehicles Report. Concessions Operations Specifically Includes: Opening and closing of concession stand facilities Accountable for distributing start-up cash to splash pad and carousel as needed. Controlling admissions to train and carousel by selling tickets; selling concessions Work concessions facilities at several parks and facilities and run the register Maintaining daily work records, including revenue reports Responsible for closing procedures and making nightly deposits Assists with maintaining product inventory at concession stands Working independently to provide superior customer service to guests and patrons. Must possess and maintain a NC Class C Driver License for the duration of employment with a 3-year safe driving history verified by a NC Division of Motor Vehicles Report. Concessions Supervisor Specifically Includes: Managing concessions facilities at several parks and facilities Managing and maintaining product inventory, including ordering, rotating, pricing and marketing Assisting with hiring, scheduling, training, and managing staff for all concession locations Maintaining daily work records, including revenue reports, healthy and safety reports, and product inventory Tracking revenues and expenditure related to concession sales Assisting with concession equipment maintenance and upkeep Must possess and maintain a NC Class C Driver License for the duration of employment with a 3-year safe driving history verified by a NC Division of Motor Vehicles Report. Bus Driver Specifically Includes: Drive vehicles over specified routes or to specified destinations according to time schedules, complying with traffic regulations to ensure that passengers have a smooth and safe ride. Park vehicles at loading areas so that passengers can board. Advise passengers to be seated and orderly while on vehicles. Inspect vehicles, and check gas, oil, and water levels prior to departure. Assist passengers, such as elderly or disabled individuals, on and off bus, ensure they are seated properly, help carry baggage, and answer questions about trip schedules or routes. Load and unload passengers via accessible ramp as needed Handle passenger emergencies or disruptions. Record information, such as maintain logbook. Listen to and sometimes address passenger complaints Ensure the tour stays on schedule Account for all passengers before leaving a location Sometimes act as tour guides for passengers Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort. Shuttle Operator Specifically Includes: Drive shuttle over specified routes or to specified destinations according to time schedules, complying with traffic regulations to ensure that passengers have a smooth and safe ride. Park vehicles at loading areas so that passengers can board. Advise passengers to be seated and orderly while on shuttle. Perform daily pre-trip shuttle inspection.
