Job Title: Mechanical Designer Job Description

As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for the design and creation of virtual solid models of new products, as well as modifications and upgrades to existing designs. This includes everything from detailed component design to full assembly. You will create 3D CAD models for individual components, systems, and assemblies and generate tolerance stack-up analysis and mass properties on component assemblies to ensure proper fit and function. Additionally, you will document manufacturing required processes, tooling, and fixtures, and create necessary design and manufacturing documentation for Technical Data Package (TDP) development, manufacturing operations, engineering analysis, and product installations. You will also participate in multi-disciplinary, integrated project teams and communicate progress on projects with the Lead Designer, ensuring all work is done in compliance with Quality Requirements, ISO 9001/AS9100 standards, and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Design and create virtual solid models for new products, modifications, and upgrades.

Create 3D CAD models for components, systems, and assemblies.

Generate tolerance stack-up analysis and mass properties for proper fit and function.

Utilize industry-standard manufacturing processes as design requirements.

Document necessary manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures.

Develop design and manufacturing documentation for TDP, engineering analysis, and product installations.

Participate in multi-disciplinary, integrated project teams.

Communicate project progress with the Lead Designer.

Ensure compliance with Quality Requirements and ISO 9001/AS9100 standards.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in mechanical design.

Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Ability in BOM generation.

Knowledge of mechanical system integration and engineering analysis.

Familiarity with ISO standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Associate's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.

Minimum of five years' experience with SolidWorks modeling software.

Certification from a technical institution or relevant work experience can substitute for educational requirements.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance.

Work Environment

You will be working in a mentorship environment with opportunities for upward mobility, benefiting from a small company culture. The team consists of 45 employees and is currently located in Fort Walton Beach, with plans to expand to a new facility near Hurlburt Field.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Edgewood, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
