We're hiring a
Team Lead
to manage a team of
4–5 Prior Authorization Specialists
in our specialty pharmacy services department. This role is based
onsite at our Pittsburgh headquarters
and plays a key part in ensuring timely, accurate support for patients and prescriber offices.
We're looking for a hands-on leader with deep expertise in compiling and submitting prior authorization cases.
Your ability to manage complex casework, ensure accuracy, and support your team through escalations will be key to success in this role.
What You’ll Do Lead & Develop Your Team : Supervise, coach, and develop a team of Prior Authorization Specialists. Assign daily responsibilities, monitor performance, and support onboarding and training efforts.
Be the Go-To Expert : Serve as the team’s Subject Matter Expert (SME), handling escalations, complex Tier 3 cases, and providing operational guidance.
Streamline & Improve Processes : Oversee workflows for benefit verification and prior authorization. Identify opportunities for efficiency and implement improvements in collaboration with leadership.
Collaborate with Stakeholders : Ensure effective communication with prescriber offices and insurance payers to facilitate timely case resolution.
Ensure Compliance & Technology Adoption : Maintain compliance with company policies, HIPAA regulations, and ensure team proficiency with internal systems and tools.
Problem Solving & Escalation Management : Apply sound judgment to resolve complex issues independently, escalating to leadership only when necessary.
Required Experience & Skills: 2-5 years of hands-on experience in prior authorization
(pharmacy or medical).
1-2 years in a supervisory, lead, or management role preferred , with a proven track record of coaching and developing a team.
Expert knowledge of the PA lifecycle , including benefit verification, clinical documentation requirements, and navigating payer portals.
Strong understanding of medical terminology and insurance policies (both pharmacy and medical benefits).
Additional Details Location : Pittsburgh, PA (onsite, Monday through Friday 9-5 PM)
Travel : Occasional local travel within a 25-mile radius
Schedule : Full-time, salaried - 52-54k per year.
