Position Summary
The Staffing and Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of staff management for catering events, including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising the event catering team, which consists of chefs, servers, bartenders, and other personnel, to ensure high-quality service delivery and client satisfaction. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and interpersonal skills to manage staff and coordinate event logistics and client needs for a seamless event experience.
This is a full-time role that requires the incumbent to work four days from our headquarters in Alexandria, VA, and one day remote.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of catering event staff. Work with HR/Finance to determine salary guidelines for all open roles. Attend career fairs with local colleges, universities, and organizations to actively build Get Plated's talent pipeline for catering event staff. Attend weekly BEO meetings, ensuring that staffing coverage meets event and venue requirements. When necessary, work with the sales manager to adjust staffing levels in response to changes in event needs or logistics. Coordinate scheduling, coverage, and contingent coverage for all events. Ensure staff and labor wages stay within the allocated budget for each event. Establish/maintain relationships with venues by conducting venue walkthroughs to ensure that staffing coverage and logistics align with venue compliance. Provide on-site supervision and support for catering staff at specified events. Participate in the post-event debrief and communicate with the sales manager or senior leadership any impactful information that requires follow-up with clients, venues, or vendors. Maintain event staff's required certifications and licenses, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Handle workers' compensation claims, including reporting and follow-up coordination for event staff. Coordinate or facilitate quarterly trainings for event staff (e.g., servers and waitstaff, bartenders, and chefs). Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Minimum of five years' experience in an operational, logistics, or staffing role in the hospitality industry. Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff, manage a team effectively, and build on positive client relationships with vendors and venues. Ability to manage multiple events, complex schedules, and tight schedules under pressure. Excellent communication skills with internal teams, staff, and vendors, which are essential for understanding and executing event needs and logistics. The anticipated salary range for this position is $60,000-$65,000. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.
