About the Opportunity
A confidential, employee‑owned national builder with more than a century of success is seeking a Senior Project Manager (Concrete) to lead complex, high-visibility projects in the El Paso market. You will provide overall direction and leadership across safety, schedule, cost, quality, risk, and client relations—owning outcomes for significantly complex projects and/or multiple concurrent projects. This role is integral to our self-perform concrete strategy and overall operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership
- Champion an injury‑free culture through personal example and mentoring; ensure compliance with company and OSHA standards.
- Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and retrain staff as needed.
Preconstruction & Planning
- Partner with preconstruction on quantity takeoffs, trade coordination, scope development/review, bid package creation, schedule development, bidder lists, and bid advertising.
- Lead and/or support client discussions from conceptual phase through GMP development.
- Oversee development of preconstruction estimates; perform estimating and productivity analysis.
Buyout & Subcontracts
- Lead buyout plan and implementation; verify pricing and scope, conduct gap analyses, select awardees, and drive timely subcontract issuance.
- Negotiate commercial terms aligned to project risk profile and schedule priorities.
Submittals, Design Coordination & Quality
- Establish/manage the submittal schedule; review/approve shop drawings and samples prior to A/E submission.
- Ensure approved submittals are returned to trade partners and are available to the team per schedule and contract requirements.
- Coordinate with design teams to resolve RFIs, conflicts, and constructability concerns.
Execution, Cost & Schedule Control
- Own project budgets, forecasts, change management, cash flow, procurement logs, and cost reports.
- Develop, maintain, and recover schedules (weekly look‑aheads to master CPM).
- Drive field productivity and plan of day/plan of week alignment with Superintendents.
Risk & Stakeholder Management
- Identify, quantify, and actively manage project risks; implement mitigation/contingency plans.
- Lead OAC and trade partner meetings; maintain strong client and A/E relationships.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Coordinators; partner closely with Superintendents.
- Forecast and allocate resources; reinforce best practices and consistent project delivery standards.
Self‑Perform Concrete Focus
- Coordinate estimating, labor/equipment planning, formwork systems, means/methods, pour sequencing, and logistics for structural concrete packages (e.g., podiums, cores, tilt, parking, and complex cast‑in‑place).
- Ensure QC/QA for concrete operations including mix design verification, placement, finishing, curing, and testing.
Closeout
- Drive commissioning, punch list, training, turnover documentation, and financial close.
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 10–15 years of progressive project management experience with structural or self‑perform concrete (required).
- Management experience leading multidisciplinary project teams (required).

- **Large project management ($100M+)** (required).
- Demonstrated success delivering complex commercial/industrial/civic projects from precon through closeout.
- Mastery of project controls (budgeting/forecasting, cost/change management), scheduling (CPM tools), and buyout/contracting.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and client‑facing skills; proven risk identification/mitigation capability.
- Proficiency with common construction technologies (e.g., CPM scheduling, digital plan review, cost systems, and collaboration platforms).
- Valid driver’s license; ability to visit jobsites and attend regional meetings as needed.
- Security Clearance: Not required.
