The Field Engineer is responsible for planning and executing, with minimal professional guidance, complex semi-technical field assignments involving the installation, modification, testing, inspection, or repair of company products and equipment. The role includes coordinating work with other groups to ensure commitments are met, typically for remotely operated maintenance and testing equipment. The Field Engineer recommends measures to improve operations and customer service while performing detailed, hands-on tasks in diverse environments.

Pay Range: $38/hr - $43/hr; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Key Responsibilities: Perform complex field service operations involving unusual problems that require strong technical skills. Construct complex prototype models or simulated systems as requested. Integrate development and production project requirements using a deep understanding of the full project scope. Perform basic fabrication, assembly, erection, maintenance, repair, and operation of products, systems, laboratory calibration, or test equipment. Conduct tests or experiments involving the selection, adaptation, or modification of equipment and products, recording data and preparing test reports. Compile and correlate data, reduce it for analysis, prepare schematics, diagrams, or parts lists, and make recommendations for test procedures and hardware. Provide leadership in the assembly and operation of laboratory and field service equipment. Troubleshoot test equipment using personal knowledge and experience to recommend repairs, modifications, or process improvements. Conduct detailed inventories and inspections to determine maintenance, repair needs, and resource requirements. Lead field service projects such as non-destructive examinations and complex test projects. Work non-standard schedules and at off-site locations, often in varying environmental conditions. Assist in planning and coordinating team efforts and guide less experienced technicians. Instruct less experienced technicians in proper and safe equipment operation. Required Skills and Qualifications: Associate’s Degree in Engineering or related field, plus 1–5 years of relevant experience, or a special combination of education, experience, and accomplishments. Electrical experience, including soldering. Experience with electrical and mechanical assembly. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings. Thorough understanding of company products and equipment. Solid understanding of engineering concepts and practices. Ability to select effective approaches and adapt standard practices to resolve complex semi-technical problems. Strong leadership ability to guide less experienced staff. Independent decision-making, with the ability to work without close supervision.
