INSTRUMENT SPECIALIST
DEPARTMENT: Electrical, Instrumentation and Control (EIC)
The Instrumentation Specialist supports the reliable operation of KRMA's wastewater treatment facility by maintaining and troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Maintain and troubleshoot SCADA/automation systems (AVEVA, PLCs, VFDs, HMIs)
Configure and maintain networking and communication systems (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, RSLinx).
Calibrate and maintain process instrumentation (DO, ORP, TSS, chlorine, sulfur dioxide, gas detection, flow, pressure, level, etc.)
Operate, maintain and troubleshoot electrical switchgear, MCCs, generators, boilers, actuators and instrumentation
Support HVAC and mechanical control systems
Coordinate repairs and document work activities utilizing CMMS
This position works a 40-hour week 7am-3pm, Monday - Friday and may require some overtime
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years college level training in industrial electrical controls
OR Two years industrial electrical experience including instrumentation, controls and troubleshooting High school diploma or equivalent Experience in the Water or Wastewater field preferred Valid Illinois Driver's License Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings including drug, alcohol, physical, and background PREFERRED SKILLS: Knowledge of SCADA systems, PLC programming, and industrial networking Experience with Allen-Bradley platforms (PLCs, VFDs, HMIs) and Johnson Controls systems Strong background in instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting Familiarity with electrical safety standards (NFPA 70E, OSHA) SALARY AND BENEFITS: Rate of pay is $46.76/hour Health, Life, Dental, and Vision Insurance, Vacation Time, Sick Time, Personal Days, Paid Holidays, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Tuition Reimbursement, 401(k), and Clothing Allowance HOW TO APPLY: Resumes with cover letters and three professional references will be accepted at until 3:00pm, October 16th, 2025.
