Overview

This position is within the Florida State University department of Public Safety.

Responsibilities
  • Provides a uniform presence in the prevention of criminal, unsafe, or dangerous activity by staffing the Strozier and Dirac library security desks. Conduct routine patrols on foot or in a cart of the library, library grounds and surrounding parking lots. This may include resolving issues with patrons, staffing shortfalls, and liaising with FSUPD. Monitors public use of library facilities and contacts building maintenance as needed.
  • Enforces security procedures and policies. Communicate verbally or in writing, updates & reports related to the operation of security to Head of Security.
  • Assist patrons with questions regarding services provided by the FSU Libraries. Informing patrons and guests where to seek answers to other related questions at the help desk located within the building.
  • Make contact with official guests or potential employees of the library by meeting them at different locations and providing parking and guidance.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Chief, or their designee, not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)
