Overview Director for Advancing Energy Ecopreneurship – The Precourt Institute for Energy and the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability seek an exceptional leader to establish strategic vision and lead a program for advancing energy ecopreneurship at Stanford. This is a two-year fixed-term position with the possibility of renewal dependent on programmatic need and budgetary availability. The position is based on Stanford’s main campus with consideration given to a hybrid work schedule (partially onsite and offsite), subject to operational need. Stanford Ecopreneurship’s mission is to increase the number of ecopreneurs and to provide education and support to solve large sustainability challenges. Lead strategic vision by developing and executing a strong program and co-curricular student endeavors for advancing energy entrepreneurship at Stanford. Lead and apply thought-leadership on energy entrepreneurship, communicating insights to stakeholders internally and externally. Establish and nurture partnerships with members of the 150+ faculty affiliated with the Precourt Institute for Energy; 39 student clubs; and faculty with aligned interests at the d.school, as well as partners beyond Stanford to advance energy entrepreneurship. Represent energy ecopreneurship with external entities to open conduits for entrepreneurship opportunities. Support fundraising efforts for energy ecopreneurship and the broader Precourt education pillar. Build and maintain liaison relationships to represent energy ecopreneurship and align with Ecopreneurship at Stanford and the Doerr School Sustainability Accelerator. Foster connections with the Stanford Venture Studio – Ecopreneur Circle, the Ecopreneurship Eco-Sprint program, and student clubs to expand on-ramps for ecopreneurs. Serve as institutional expert for students evaluating technology venture ideas and pitching opportunities to venture investors. Engage and mentor graduate students on commercialization pathways for sustainability-focused faculty innovations. Develop tracking and metric analysis models for innovation explorations and technology commercialization realizations. Teach and co-teach courses related to entrepreneurship in energy transitions and sustainability; develop curriculum and co-curricular learning opportunities. Provide independent coaching and advisory support to energy-focused students throughout ideation to launch. Expand the ecopreneurship network by activating alumni mentors and connecting them with student initiatives. Serve as an Innovation Coach for the Ecopreneur Circle and related programs. Lead and oversee development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of programs. Oversee analysis, reporting, and program improvements. Ensure adherence to program policies and procedures. Lead strategic planning for the program/entity. Represent the entity or program to the broader university, external community, and other stakeholders; provide expert consultation related to program development, funding opportunities, or other areas. Develop outreach strategies related to communications, development, partnerships, and fundraising. Identify external funding opportunities and write proposals and grants. Oversee strategic financial planning and sustainability for the program/entity, as needed; monitor performance and controls. Teach or co-teach courses; oversee course administration; advise on curriculum; mentor students and staff. Coach and mentor program staff. Minimum Requirements Education & Experience: Advanced degree and five years of relevant experience in the area of specialization or a combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience. For roles with financial responsibilities, experience managing a budget and developing financial plans. Experience developing program partnerships and funding sources. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources. Advanced oral, written, and analytical skills in the area of specialization. Ability to oversee and direct staff. Ability to manage budgets and develop financial plans. Certifications And Licenses
For teaching-related roles, an advanced degree or certification may be required for some programs. Preferred Qualifications
