Salary Range: $55,895.80 - $83,843.71

Responsibilities

  1. Installs, maintains and repairs all functions of electrical power apparatus, controls, electrical systems, and equipment throughout the Albany Medical Center. Checks apparatus for safety hazards. Installs and maintains nurse call systems, signaling systems, and fire alarm systems. Installs, maintains, and repairs various types of commercial, industrial, and residential appliances and equipment. Assists other tradespeople to complete projects as required. Assists in snow removal services.
  2. Must be able to work, using drawings, blueprints and/or sketches. Responsible for reporting the need for parts used on jobs and getting these parts restocked.
  3. Must be able to work from a computerized software generated PM preventive maintenance ticket on various electrical systems throughout the facility.
  4. Must gain the knowledge of low voltage signaling and communications systems, alarms including the facility Fire Alarm and Security Alarm systems.
  5. Must be able to install, inspect, maintain, repair, and adjust motors, signal or power equipment, controllers, switches and various types of electrical hospital related equipment.
  6. Troubleshoots and cleans electrical control and equipment. Always utilizing all required PPE’s (personal protective equipment).
  7. As required assists other shop crafts in troubleshooting electrical systems.
  8. Under supervision performs periodic preventive maintenance and test on the facility electrical distribution systems and emergency generators.
  9. Under supervision inspects, cleans, and maintains electrical distribution equipment, including power distribution vaults and switch gear.
  10. Inspects, tests, maintains and repairs fire alarm systems and other miscellaneous alarm systems.
  11. Inspects, tests, maintains and repairs nurse call systems and other low voltage communications systems.
  12. Runs conduit and cable from source to specified locations and ensures the proper anchoring is utilized on all conduit runs.
  13. Moves and installs electrical equipment throughout the facility as required.
  14. Performs all assigned tasks in a timely and cost effective manner.
  15. Displays a "Customer First Attitude".
  16. Follows AMC policies and procedures and adheres to center safety policies and procedures.
  17. Assists & Cooperates with other foremen and supervisors to schedule and complete projects according to plan.
  18. Assists with the training of the new shift engineers and electricians on the facility fire alarm system.
  19. Responsible to conduct daily good housekeeping measures to promote the department safety program.
  20. Responsible to attend asbestos training annually and be part of the asbestos team.
  21. When needed, management reserves the right to assign or reassign all employees.
  22. Assists the Director and Assistant Director of Facility Maintenance in all emergencies.

Qualifications

Minimum High School graduate or equivalent and five years’ experience as a commercial electrician or controls tech. Must have an excellent working knowledge of National Electrical Codes, NFPA Healthcare Codes, NFPA Life Safety Codes.
