Overview
HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER — Direct-Hire role with our client in Rockford, IL. Workplace Type: On-site.
Base pay range: $100,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr.
Responsibilities
- Recruiting & Talent Strategy: Develops talent acquisition and retention strategies with leadership team and hiring managers. Drives talent initiatives including assessment, development, training, and succession planning. Develops job requirements for new or expanded roles. Provides managers with consultation and support for performance management activities, including improvement plans, effective performance reviews, development plans, and compensation decisions. Manages employee relations, provide counseling, and support leaders in disciplinary actions. Supports the development and implementation of the company’s Apprentice Program, collaborating with leadership to design training, mentoring, and career path opportunities. Drives full cycle recruitment efforts including attracting and assessing candidate capabilities, and supporting newly developed apprenticeship program. Acts as brand ambassador at job fairs and community events. Utilizes HRIS system for job posting and applicant tracking. Provides preliminary screening and coordinates interview process. Coordinates onboarding process for new hires.
- Employee Relations, Engagement and Culture: Partners with functional leaders and team members to enable a positive, inclusive culture and drive higher engagement. Develops a strategy for cultivating culture through programs and events. Leads the completion and rollout of the company’s Employee Handbook, ensuring alignment with organizational culture, policies, and compliance requirements.
- Compensation, Benefits and Payroll Support: Conducts a comprehensive compensation review to ensure competitive pay practices and internal equity. Provides ongoing compensation analysis and makes recommendations on adjustments as needed. Researches and recommends additions or modifications to benefit and wellness programs. Utilizes the HRIS system to assist with payroll and employee record maintenance. Serves as liaison with outside third-party organizations for benefits, insurance, technology, and applicable professional services firms (e.g., auditors).
- Legal and Compliance: Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations. Investigates employee concerns and complaints and recommends appropriate actions. Partners with legal on employment litigation matters. Recommends changes to HR policies and procedures based on business trends and regulatory updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, Business, or related field; plus 5+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HR administration principles and practices.
- Proven experience managing full life-cycle recruitment and talent development processes.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Enthusiastic, creative, performance-driven individual committed to excellence.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive employee information.
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth company with multiple competing demands.
