Posting expires: September 30, 2025 Salary: $80,000 General Description and Classification Standards: Responsible for performing site inspections for water and/or wastewater infrastructure, logs and tracks all service requests and work orders, responds to customer service requests ensuring the requests are resolved quickly, and produces and tracks Hansen work orders for all inspection requests. Responds to water and wastewater work orders as directed by the supervisor, contacts customers and investigates service requests or complaints, determines actions to resolve problems, sends work orders to the appropriate work division for resolution if required, monitors status of work orders until resolved and closed out, prepares reports, and processes paperwork. Supervision Received: Works under direct supervision of the Area Superintendent. Normally receives guidance regarding overall mission, scheduling, problem solving, unusual priorities, etc. and follows standardized procedures and written/verbal instructions to accomplish assigned tasks; may assist in training, orienting, or observing lower-level associate, apprentice, or semi-skilled employee in the group. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Respond to customer service requests as detailed on service request and/or work orders. Contact customers and performs on-site investigations to determine the extent of the problem and person responsible for resolving the problem. Create and sends work orders to responsible person for resolution. Conduct inspections and investigations of linear infrastructure construction projects such as defective private sewer lateral connections, water tap connections, private and property spills, etc. Document field findings, conditions, and activities related to customer service work orders. Prepare site investigation reports and monthly work order status reports Perform field investigations, research, and responds to water and wastewater related claims and lawsuits Investigate job sites’ discrepancies. Provide effective communication with citizens, developers, contractors, plumbers, and other internal DWM staff. Knowledgeable of water and wastewater operations and customer relations Able to read, understand, and interpret plans, work orders, computer printouts, and other related materials Able to use maps and engineering drawings to locate underground utilities Assembles information and completes reports and documents in a concise, clear, and effective manner Able to use independent judgment and discretion in handling emergency situations, setting priorities, maintaining standards, and resolving problems Mathematical knowledge to complete calculations Able to effectively communicate and interact with management, employees, customers, and the publicMinimum Qualifications: Education and Experience – High school diploma or GED One (1) to three (3) years of construction and/or maintenance of wastewater operations experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this jobLicensures and Certifications – Wastewater Collection System Operator License is required for employment Must be dual certified within 1 year of employment (Water Distribution Operator license and Wastewater Collection System Operator license.Preferred Requirements – Associate degree in Business Administration 3 or more years of construction and/or maintenance of maintenance of wastewater operations experience or any equivalent combination of training and experienceWork Environment: Required physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities are requirements to perform the job successfully. Lifting Requirements: Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
