A Physician Assistant (or Nurse Practitioner) is needed to provide locum tenens coverage in the inpatient medical oncology service at a large acute care hospital in Minneapolis. This is a weekday-only role with no call responsibilities, focused on hematology and oncology patient care, supporting both benign and malignant heme cases.
Assignment HighlightsSchedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Shift Structure: Day shift, 8.5 hours (30-minute lunch)
Setting: Inpatient hematology/oncology service (hospital-based, 686 beds)
Patient Census: 11-16 patients per day, all ages
Support Staff: Nursing staff, pharmacy, APP colleagues on service; MDs supported by inpatient APPs
Practice Scope: Inpatient hematology, malignant and benign; oncology knowledge helpful, bone marrow knowledge a plus (not required)
Workload: Focused on hematology, oncology APP also on service
No call, no weekend coverage
Travel & Lodging: Prepaid by HPA Healthcare

Pay Ranking: Competitive compensation in the top 25% of market for Minnesota Hem/Onc APP locums
Board Certification: Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (Hematology/Oncology background required)
Minimum 2 years of Hem/Onc APP experience
Comfortable with benign and malignant hematology (required)
Familiarity with Epic EMR (required)
Strong inpatient Hematology focus; oncology support also present
BLS and ACLS required
