Overview The Specialized Recruiting Group (SRG) has partnered with a leading manufacturing company in the medical consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry to recruit a Supply Chain Planner.
In this role, you will analyze forecasts and BOMs, manage supplier relationships, and maintain healthy inventory levels to ensure consistent product availability across multiple facilities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, gain exposure to complex supply chain operations, and contribute to both local site activities and corporate-level initiatives.
Key Responsibilities (by percentage of time spent) Supplier & Inventory Management – 75% Analyze forecasts, BOMs, and planning parameters to determine purchasing requirements, rather than relying solely on MRP signals. Maintain accurate lead times, safety stock levels, and planning parameters in ERP/MRP systems. Build and sustain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness. Translate supply plans into purchase orders and manage execution across ~3,000 SKUs and 80+ suppliers, including tiered buying strategies. Monitor and optimize inventory health, including turns, aging, expiration, and obsolescence. Track, evaluate, and report supplier performance (lead times, fill rates, quality, responsiveness). Secure required supplier documentation such as certificates of compliance, sterility, and analysis. Ensure compliance with FDA and other applicable regulatory requirements. Support logistics tasks, including tracking and expediting as needed.
Process Improvement & Systems – 15% Identify and proactively mitigate supply risks and bottlenecks. Support procurement automation as part of the company’s Digital Transformation initiatives. Utilize Syspro ERP and Atlas by John Galt MRP tools to execute and continuously improve supply planning processes. Drive improvements to enhance efficiency, supply reliability, and cost reduction.
Cross-Functional Collaboration – 10% Partner with demand planners to align supply with forecasts and address potential gaps. Collaborate with production, sales, and customer service teams to ensure supply supports business needs. Coordinate with Regulatory and Quality teams to ensure compliance requirements are met. Support both local site operations and broader corporate purchasing activities across multiple facilities. Prepare and issue Change Notices for new or modified products.
Required Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related discipline (required)
Experience 3+ years of current experience in supply planning, procurement, or buying, with direct responsibility for purchasing in regulated manufacturing environments using BOMs and forecasts Preferred background in consumer-packaged goods (CPG), current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), or medical product industries Expertise in supply chain management and global purchasing, with a proven record of building and sustaining long-term vendor partnerships, including international suppliers Demonstrated career longevity and stability, including advancement and promotions within prior companies
Technical Skills Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (Syspro and/or Atlas by John Galt preferred). Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, data analysis) and comfort with complex datasets.
Core Competencies Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and solve problems independently. Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications APICS CPIM or CSCP certification. Six Sigma certification. Experience working in FDA- or ISO-regulated industries. Familiarity with Tableau, PowerBI, or similar analytics tools.
