Shores Animal Hospital is seeking an energetic professional to be a part of our fast-paced team. We are a small animal practice with a 7000+ square foot, state-of-the-art hospital. We strive to offer the gold standard of care to every client and patient. Our hospital has a fully-equipped surgical suite, digital radiology suite, digital dental radiology, cold laser therapy, an ultrasound suite, and a complete in-house diagnostic laboratory. By offering private suites for many of our services, our patients can relax, not be distracted by others around them, and have a less stressful visit. The hospital is located just outside the heart of Gainesville, near the University of Florida, in a family-friendly area.
As a Receptionist You Will
- Receive and place calls to clients for the purpose of scheduling.
- Prioritize multiple tasks in a calm, organized manner.
- Maintain proper documentation through client and pet records (e.g., referral documentation, previous medical history).
- Assist clients by providing instructions, information and invoices; dispense prescription items per the veterinarian’s instructions; and schedule future appointments.
- Utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates.
- Manage the financial needs of the hospital by maintaining accurate balances through collection of client transactions and following cash and credit card handling procedures; follow opening and closing procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service and professional communication.
- Educate clients on preventative care, pet health needs, treatment recommendations, and hospital services/procedures.
- Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, pets and teammates; demonstrate empathy and respect for animals.
- Use standard office/business equipment; familiarity with veterinary terminology is helpful.
Qualifications and Skills
- Flexible schedule including some weekend and holiday shifts.
- Experience with veterinary software is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and follow directions on assigned tasks.
- Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills; good judgment and ability to manage stressful situations.
- Critical thinking to identify best solutions and approaches to problems.

- Pay range of $14-$15/hour based on experience.
