Position Summary

We are seeking a Dental Assistant - Prosth. The Prosthodontist Dental Assistant works under a dentist’s supervision to prepare equipment, ready patients for procedures, and assist the dentist during procedures by passing instruments, holding suction, and anticipating the dentist’s needs. Responsibilities may include removing sutures, processing x-rays and taking oral impressions used to fit crowns.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direct supervision of the Prosthodontist
• Perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties, including chair-side assistance during examination and treatment
• Ensure patients are comfortable, prepare them for treatment, and obtain dental records
• Hand instruments and materials to dentists and maintain a dry/clear mouth with suction
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, prepare trays for procedures, and instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care
• Prepare materials for impressions and restorations, take dental x-rays, and process x-ray film as directed
• Assist with radiographic procedures as directed by a dentist
• Perform office duties as needed (scheduling, confirming appointments, receiving patients, maintaining treatment records, billing, and ordering supplies)
• Assist in specialty areas including oral surgery, periodontics, and prosthodontics including dental implantology
• Support and assist the hygienist as needed (tray cleaning, room setup, cleanup)
• Track inventory of prosthetic supplies and keep storage organized
• Support radiographic needs of the Patient Education Consultants, Oral Surgeon, and Hygienists

Working Conditions

• Dental assistants work in a well-lighted, clean environment near the dental chair
• Wear gloves, masks, eyewear, and protective clothing to protect themselves and patients
• Follow safety procedures to minimize risks associated with x-ray machines

Experience

• Certified as a Dental Assistant by the ADA
• Two years of dental assistant experience
• Dental implant experience is desired
• Reliable, able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment, and possess good manual dexterity
• Current certification in CPR

Physical Requirements

• Regularly work in an office environment and move around to assist as needed
• Ability to walk floors, stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and maintain steady hand and arm movements
• Good multi-limb coordination and trunk strength

Compensation And Benefits

The anticipated range for this position is $28 - $32 per hour.
