Project Cost Accountant Location:
Mount Holly, NC Reports To: Leadership Team Position Overview Boxman Studios is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Cost Accountant to join our team. This role combines traditional accounting responsibilities with project/job costing and financial tracking. The Project Cost Accountant will ensure the accuracy of financial records, manage vendor payments, and support project teams with timely cost reporting and analysis. Key Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries across multiple accounts. Reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and accruals. Process vendor invoices and payments in a timely and accurate manner. Track and report costs associated with specific projects/jobs, ensuring accuracy and alignment with budgets. Monitor project expenses, labor hours, and material costs; investigate variances and provide explanations to project managers. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings. Support the preparation of financial statements, project cost reports, and management reporting. Provide financial analysis to project managers, helping them understand project profitability and performance. Maintain organized financial and project records in accordance with internal controls. Provide documentation and support during annual audits. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in accounting and project cost tracking processes. Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. 2- 4 years of accounting experience, with project or cost accounting experience strongly desired. Knowledge of GAAP and strong understanding of accounting principles. Experience with project/job cost accounting systems or ERP software preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong skills in building cost reports and variance analyses. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills. Analytical thinker with the ability to identify and solve problems. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with both finance and project management teams. Why Boxman Studios?
