The Office of Auditor of State is seeking candidates for

Administrative Assistant 1.

This position will perform non-supervisory administrative support to the senior management team in the Auditor's Capitol office.

Investigates and as directed by the Chief of Staff, responds to inquiries from and communicates information to the office employees, government officials and interest groups/citizens. Performs public contact work in greeting, screening and routing callers and visitors.

Drafts emails, letters, social-media posts and other correspondence and reports. Schedules and arranges meetings for the Chief of Staff. Maintain confidential files, records and research information related to operational issues. Determines appropriate routing of requests internally or, if needed, externally to agencies. Escalates higher priority items directly to Chief of Staff, Auditor Deputies or Auditor for action.

Knowledge of State and office policies and procedures and the organizational structure, functions, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements for the organization served. Knowledge of government and private organizations and their working relationships with the Office. Displays high standards of ethical conduct by refraining from dishonest behavior and gossip. Works and communicates with all staff, clients and customers providing polite, quality professional service. Displays a high level of initiative, effort and attention to detail and aligns behavior with the goals of the organization. Fosters and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, group identity and team spirit throughout the Office. Exchanges information effectively by listening and responding appropriately.

While this job classification typically requires a four-year degree, the Office of Auditor of State will consider any applicant that has graduated from a post-high-school vocational/technical, business college, or community college.

The Auditor's Office is exempt from the state's merit system administered by the Department of Administrative Services. Therefore, it is not necessary for candidates to complete the certification process that is required for state offices under the merit system. It is the policy of the Office of Auditor of State to conduct background checks on all finalist candidates prior to any offer of employment. Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in any field. A total of four years of education (as described in number one) and/or full-time experience in accounting, secretarial, or office support work collecting, compiling, reporting, examining and/or editing numerical data; coding and qualifying people for benefits, licenses, or other transactions; preparing and keeping budgetary accounts and projections; organizing and implementing office support operations; advising on procedural processes; or other work that provided direct support and exposure to substantive agency programs, where one year of full-time experience is equal to 30 semester hours of education. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as a Secretary 2, Clerk Specialist, Public Service Supervisor, Accounting Technician (any level), Purchasing Assistant, or Human Resources Technical Assistant.
