Position Summary
The Data Analyst at the library is responsible for documenting, collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to provide valuable insights that support evidence-based decision-making and improve the library's services and operations. They will collaborate with various departments to identify data needs, develop data collection strategies, and design efficient data management systems. They will create comprehensive reports and visualizations to effectively communicate data findings and recommendations to stakeholders. This position is critical to the Library’s evolving data strategy, supporting local and state reporting requirements, organizational decision-making, and implementation of the Library’s Strategic Direction.

Library Administration Center, 510 Stitt Road, Charlotte, NC 28213
Schedule: Full Time Benefit Eligible, 40 hours per week on-site (no remote work options). Day shift - 8:00am – 5:00pm. Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required.
Essential Functions:
- Document, collect and gather data from various library systems, databases, and sources.
- Clean, validate, and transform data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
- Develop and implement data collection methods and procedures to capture relevant information.
- Analyze data using statistical techniques and data mining tools to identify patterns, trends, and correlations.
- Generate meaningful insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Create actionable and audience-appropriate reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present data findings to stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
- Collaborate with different departments within the library to identify data needs and develop strategies to address them.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of library programs and initiatives using data-driven approaches.
- Maintain data management systems, ensuring data documentation, quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Act as a primary liaison with external partners to ensure effective coordination and reporting of performance data.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in a related field.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Data Analytics or a related field.
- Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes
- Licenses and Certifications: May require a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License; May require County Driving Privileges
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Public Administration, Information Science, or a related field; experience in public or nonprofit settings preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of: Library operations and services, Library management systems, Data privacy and confidentiality, Research methodologies, Data visualization principles, Statistical analysis techniques, Data cleaning and data quality management, Data manipulation and querying, Data security and data governance.

- Create clear and informative reports, visualizations, and dashboards to present data findings.
- Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to understand their data requirements and provide data-driven solutions.
- Identify patterns, trends, and correlations within the data to uncover actionable insights.
- Troubleshoot data-related issues and identify solutions to ensure accurate and reliable data analysis.
Computer Skills: Advanced proficiency with analytic and technical software applications appropriate to position, e.g., Galvanize (ACL) or equivalent, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, etc.
Work Environment: Works in an office setting with moderate noise
