Overview

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate engages customers with eye contact, smiles, and friendly greetings, treats colleagues with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The role may require performing a range of tasks in all store areas as business needs require.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists customers as needed—register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greets customers throughout the store and thanks them at checkout.
  • Provides prompt responses to customer inquiries and service requests; responds to service calls promptly and involves Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitizing high-touch areas) to maintain store cleanliness and merchandising standards.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and organized per standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items according to monthly presentation guidelines to assist customers.
  • Understands Loss Prevention awareness, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise; represents the company with integrity.
  • Follows MOS and cash handling policies, including refunds and transaction procedures.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to perform roles efficiently and minimize unnecessary steps.

Qualifications And Special Skills

  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDAs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds; use janitorial equipment and equipment such as rolling racks and ladders.
  • Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
