General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; maintains awareness on the sales floor and creates a safe environment. Keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greets Customers and maintains professional conduct at all times.
  • Assists Customers (register-trained), answers questions, and provides polite and knowledgeable service. Engages Customers with eye contact, a smile, and thanks during transactions.
  • Responds promptly to Customer service needs and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain store and team areas (sweeping, mopping, dusting, surfaces, restrooms) and replenishes supplies as needed.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per guidelines and department standards.
  • Understands Loss Prevention concepts and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies and proper handling of disposals with Store Leadership review.
  • Handles cash, checks, credit/debit transactions and refunds with accuracy and integrity.
  • Demonstrates urgency to maximize productivity and follow Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use store equipment, including PDAs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies as assigned.
