Job Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparation of food for Patient Food Services, Cafe, Coffee shops and conference center events. This person establishes and monitors food quality standards to ensure consistency and highest quality standards for UCSF Medical Center to include food temperature monitoring.

As member of the culinary services team, the Cook solves problems related to the culinary services unit before, during and after meal periods. The incumbent is expected to assist with and maintain safety and sanitation within the department.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. Department Description

UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.

Required Qualifications

State of California Food Handler Certification; or within three months of hire High School diploma or combination of education and experience Graduation from a recognized Culinary School; or two years food production Read, write and be understood in English The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in training and developing culinary and other production staff Experience in the practice of HACCP standards
