Typical Responsibilities
The tools team serves internal development teams, Business Analyst squads, and Quality Engineers. We support software utilities and tools that enable other groups to succeed. The role requires being open-minded and flexible, as requirements change quickly. Each team has its own priorities, and balancing these is part of the challenge.
We participate in code reviews and encourage peers to excel. LSEG is moving toward being a full DevOps software producer, so experience with DevOps is highly valued. The role requires knowledge of multiple programming languages and working with the architecture team to develop future-proof solutions. Understanding the financial industry is also important to grasp the requirements of other teams.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in software development.
- Proven experience with multiple programming languages (e.g., C#, C++).
- Proficiency in software methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, DevOps).
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, DX1).
- Knowledge of databases and SQL.
- Ability to analyze and resolve technical problems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have/Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl).
- Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with automated testing frameworks.
