Role: UX/GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Location: hybrid with 3 days in the office and 2 days of remote work(2 Broadway - MTA Headquarters)

Cover Letter: A (brief) cover letter or paragraph from the candidate would be very helpful. It should express strong interest and a passion for creative design work. The candidate's experience and portfolio should clearly demonstrate this enthusiasm and capability. Experience Level: Candidates should have 4 5 years of experience. This is a mid-level individual contributor role with senior-level scope and responsibility, though it does not involve managing others. Portfolio: A well-organized, easy-to-navigate design portfolio must be submitted. Candidates without a portfolio -or- whose portfolios appear cluttered or dated will not be considered. Portfolio Link: Candidates' resumes must include a direct link to their portfolio. Relevant Work: Ideal candidates will have experience in designing customer-facing solutions, particularly in B2B contexts. Disqualifying Work: Please do not send technical architect or game developer resumes-we are not looking for architectural portfolios or candidates with internal-facing work experience, nor with a structural or technical focus. Bonus Experience: Experience in geospatial or mapping design work is a strong plus. Transit-related design experience is also helpful but not required. Responsibilities -
Lead the end-to-end design process, from ideation through iteration to launch. - Develop and maintain design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across digital platforms (including all signage for NYCT/LIRR/MNR). - Partner with UXR to understand rider needs, behaviors, and pain points; maintain a user feedback loop to continuously improve the experience. - Establish and document UX processes and best practices. - Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on user needs and business goals.
Experience and Education - 8+ years of experience in UX design, with a focus on mobile applications. - Proven experience leading UX for complex digital products. - Excellent visual design skills & experience with design systems. - **Preferred:** Experience in the transportation industry or related fields; experience with accessibility guidelines. Additional Skill The Metropolitan Transportation Authority Digital Services team is expanding and looking for a Lead Product Designer to connect with. Our team works on all the realtime screens in the subway, as well as the TrainTime app and a new app for the subway and bus.
