Job Description

The Janitor position is responsible for performing all-purpose cleaning and preservation of the assigned area inside a building or multiple client sites. Tasks may vary and the duties should be performed as directed by the client’s specifications.

Hours, Pay and Training

Wage: $18.00 per hour. Weekly pay. Paid on-the-job training. This listing references Ecolab Joliet as part of the engagement and is for a Full-Time Overnight Janitor role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Empty and clean waste containers; remove waste and damp wipe containers
• Empty and clean ash trays; monitor and replenish sand as required
• Dust all image frames, charts, graphs and wall hangings
• Dust ceilings, diffusers, partition grilles, registers and other ventilating louvers
• Vacuum mats and carpeted areas in workplace, lobbies, and corridors
• Dust office furnishings, files, fixtures, paneling, window sills and other flat surfaces
• Wipe and buff hardware fixtures and bright work
• Clean and maintain tile floors as required
• Clean glass furnishings and entry doors (indoor and exterior surfaces)
• Clean vertical surfaces and areas around doors, door frames, light switches, and dividers
• Wash, clean and sanitize water coolers
• Sweep stairs and vacuum if carpeted
• Clean building floors by sweeping and mopping
• Sanitize and restock bathroom supplies

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow written and oral directions
• Minimum of 6 months of experience in a janitorial-type position
