Overview

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to join their team.

As Accounting Manager, you will lead the accounting operations of their family office, overseeing day-to-day operations, financial reporting and internal controls across a complex multi-entity structure. The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing accounting functions, preparing financial reports, maintaining financial policies and controls, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage a small team, ensure accuracy and compliance, and support the evolving needs of the family and its investments. Duties include accounting, reporting, analyzing, and communicating financial activity and results to cross-functional groups and executive leadership. Working with the accounting team to help drive business results and solve business improvement opportunities impacting both the income statement and the balance sheet.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the company’s accounting functions, including the close process, general ledger, inventory accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, revenue recognition, collections, treasury management, financial reporting, and aspects of taxation for all 40+ entities.
  • Responsible for ensuring financials are closed timely for all entities by approximately the 15th of each month.
  • Manage the financial accounting and reporting for the real estate portfolio, including residential, commercial, and development properties across 40+ entities.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for portfolios, individual entities, and consolidated.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Responsible for cash management as well as core treasury responsibilities including support of banking activities and borrowing with five banking partners across all entities.
  • Oversee tax planning and compliance activities.
  • Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Evaluate and implement financial systems, tools, and processes to support the company’s growth and scalability.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Manage and supervise the accounting team of 3-4 employees, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff, fostering their professional development and ensuring adherence to best practices and procedures.
  • Work cross-functionally and assist with ad hoc projects with key stakeholders and other team members.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate risks.
  • Assist in coordinating and communicating with external CPA firms, and assist with requests, audits, and individual, trust, and company income tax filing preparation.
  • Assist with the coordination of process narrative updates, process walkthroughs, and control testing performed by internal and external auditors.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience with 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong proficiency in financial systems and software, including ERP and financial planning tools.
  • Strong knowledge of banking and treasury management best practices.
  • Basic knowledge of tax matters.
  • Successful development and leadership of a high-performing results-focused accounting team.
  • Experience interacting with internal and external senior-level executives.
  • Passion for fast-paced entrepreneurial work environments.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of technical accounting / GAAP.

Base pay range: $75,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
