LHH is assisting our long-time real estate and property management client in their search for a qualified Accounting Manager to add to their team. The Accounting Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing and participating in all aspects of the accounting function for the company. This role supervises a small accounting team, ensures accurate and timely processing of daily, weekly and monthly accounting transactions, manages company bank accounts, and prepares financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to support informed decision-making and financial health. Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the accounting department, providing guidance, training, and oversight to the team’s current two members
  • Collaborate closely with property management and asset management teams to support portfolio reporting and operating goals
  • Oversee and actively participate in all daily, weekly and monthly accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger
  • Manage the process of billings to tenants and collection of rent. Be diligent in the pursuit of collection of all rent on time
  • Manage company bank accounts, prepare and review bank reconciliations
  • Manage the process to prepare annual reconciliations of Common Area Maintenance, Insurance and Real Estate Tax Expenses for each tenant. Timely send reconciliations to tenants and respond to their questions timely
  • Assist the CFO in developing the annual budget, as well as updated quarterly forecasts. Perform variance analysis
  • Ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes, maintaining accuracy and completeness in all transactions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance; real estate industry experience or public accounting preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise with the full accounting cycle, financial statement preparation, and banking operations
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and accounting systems
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal teams, tenants, vendors and lenders
