Accounting Manager

Reports to: President & COO

Overview

A growing, privately held company is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations and ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting functions. This role is central to the company’s continued growth, offering the opportunity to work closely with leadership on financial strategy, operational support, and process improvements.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and confident in managing both day-to-day accounting activities and strategic financial planning.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and applicable regulations.
• Maintain strong internal controls to protect company assets.
• Analyze financial trends and company performance to inform leadership decisions.

Accounting Operations

• Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, reconciliations, and expense management.
• Manage month-end and year-end closings.
• Handle bank reconciliations, cash flow management, and commission calculations.
• Supervise order processing, ensuring accurate documentation and coordination with warehouse and operations teams.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Partner with leadership to develop realistic budgets and forecasts.
• Monitor performance against financial plans and recommend adjustments.

Audit & Tax Management

• Prepare for external CPA reviews.
• Coordinate with CPAs on tax compliance (federal, state, payroll, and sales tax).
• Ensure all filing requirements are met accurately and on time.

Technology & Process Optimization

• Manage accounting software systems and ensure data accuracy.
• Drive automation and efficiency across accounts receivable and payable functions.
• Recommend and oversee implementation of new tools when needed.

Strategic Financial Support

• Build financial models to support pricing, product development, and market expansion.
• Provide insights to leadership for strategic growth initiatives.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, operations, and procurement.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations.
• Coordinate audits and regulatory reviews as needed.
• Establish and maintain proper accounting practices and policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Power BI a plus.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Proven skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Highly detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and in a team.
• Track record of building and implementing effective systems and procedures.
