Job Description

Accounting Manager

Reporting to the Treasurer, the Accounting Manager manages the overall accounting process and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with a foreign owned parent company and working knowledge of ERP systems and skill in essential software such as Microsoft Excel.

Below Are The Main Responsible Tasks

  • Day-to-day Accounting Operations:

Ø Manage two direct reports for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

Ø Maintain account analysis for key general ledger accounts monthly.

Ø Supervise a monthly reconciliation between Sub-Ledgers (A/R, A/P and Fixed Asset) and General Ledger in the ERP system (currently, Oracle JD Edwards).

Ø Maintain accuracy of the inventory valuation (3PL warehouse & consignment warehouse)

Ø Manage and keep multiple bank accounts and banking relationships.

Ø Work with a third-party payroll company to process bi-weekly payroll and book the payroll entries.

Ø File Sales & Use Tax at required states (e.g., Illinois, California).

Ø Prepare and review monthly financial results and clarify causes of deviation from Budget/Forecast.

Ø Ensure to meet all financial deadlines given by the parent company (monthly and quarterly).

Ø Ensure to reconcile all related party transactions with the sister companies on a quarterly basis.

Ø Upload all financials to the parent company consolidation software.

  • Corporate Income Tax:

Ø Collaborate with an external firm to accurately adjust deferred income tax assets and tax liabilities on a quarterly basis.

Ø Review Corporate Tax Returns filed by the third party professional and ensure their correct filing.

Ø Collaborate with an external firm to report and pay all tax liabilities on time (Federal/State).

  • Internal & External Audit:

Ø Coordinate both internal and external audit activities.

Ø Meet various requests from the external audit firm to ensure the company’s compliance with US GAAP.

Ø Meet various internal audit requirements from the internal audit firm of the parent company in Japan.

  • Other as-needed base tasks:

Ø Respond to parent company requests for information.

Ø Prepare budgets and monthly forecasts.

Ø Review of miscellaneous contracts.

Ø Ensure proper accounting treatment of the import duty/tariff cost per US GAAP.

Ø Review and negotiate annual commercial business insurance coverage.

Ø Review and negotiate annual employee benefits insurance including Medical/Dental/Vision coverage.

Ø Prepare reports requested internally or from the parent company.

Ø Aid expatriates’ housing and utilities setup.

Ø Review overtime payroll with an on-line timecard system.

Ø Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet organizational requirements.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or master’s degree in business
  • 8+ years of experience in monthly closing per US GAAP (CPA is a big plus)
  • Working knowledge of IFRS as the parent company follows IFRS.
  • Experience in corporate income tax review/filing.
  • Proficient in ERP system (Experience in JD Edwards and SAP is a plus.)
  • Skilled user of Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Access.
