Litigation Secretary - Insurance Defense
Location: Downtown (Onsite, Monday through Friday)
Job Type: Full-Time (Direct Hire Preferred, Temp-to-Hire Considered)
Salary: Up to $90,000 DOE

A well-established civil litigation firm in downtown is seeking an experienced Litigation Secretary to support its insurance defense practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a dependable, detail-oriented legal professional with a strong background in defense-side civil litigation.

Position SummaryWe are looking for a candidate with a minimum of three years of litigation secretarial experience, preferably with an insurance defense or insurance coverage background. The successful candidate will provide high-level support to attorneys through all stages of litigation, including filings, calendaring, discovery, and trial preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, proofread, and e-file legal documents in state and federal courts
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation: exhibits, witness lists, trial binders, and coordination with clients and experts
  • Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling of depositions, hearings, and court deadlines
  • Transcribe dictation and draft correspondence, pleadings, and discovery responses
  • Organize and maintain case files (physical and electronic) using Worldox or other document management software
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a litigation secretary supporting civil litigation attorneys
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Familiarity with Worldox or similar document management systems
  • Excellent knowledge of court rules and e-filing procedures in state and federal courts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines under pressure
  • High level of discretion and professionalism

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in insurance defense or insurance coverage
  • Demonstrated job stability and long-term tenure in previous roles
