The Central Virginia Catholic Cluster is seeking a Parish Secretary in Farmville, VA.
The Parish Secretary provides clerical and administrative support to the pastor, committees and other staff members as required and provides reception services for the parish.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Working Conditions: This position is a part time (18 hours per week) position.
Physical Demands: Light physical effort required. Regularly required to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, reach, bend, life and perform computer key boarding. Ability to travel and lift up to 10 pounds may be required.
Requirements
Qualifications: Relevant experience in a secretarial or office management role; Computer competency; Microsoft Office proficiency; Database experience; Familiarity with the Mission of the Catholic Church; The ability to manage time efficiently, set priorities and work independently; Accurate typing/word processing skills; the ability to compose business correspondence; The ability to honor and maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in MS Publisher

Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Greets and assists all parishioners in a welcoming manner consistent with hospitality.Answers phones and directs calls to an appropriate staff member.Retrieves and responds to phone and email messages in a pleasant and timely manner.Prepares the weekly bulletin and submits for publishing; writes and edits content and compiles content.Prepares, transcribes and edits a wide range of written and printed materials including correspondence, lists, and reports.Opens, sorts and distributes all incoming mail.
- Prepares materials for parish pre-registration, registration, and post-registration processes, to include a Welcome letter and data entry into the parish database.
- Maintains parishioner records and mailing lists via the parish database. Updates and communicate changes as appropriate regarding Catholic Virginian and Offering Envelopes.
- Processes the Safe Environment information for the parish staff and volunteers.
- Schedules maintenance as needed. Orders needed supplies.
- Tracks Mass Intentions.
- Coordinates with volunteers as needed for the Parish Office; Recruits, trains, and supports Office volunteers.
- Performs additional duties as requested.
- Attends and supports meetings as requested.
- Works with Diocesan departments of Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology and others as necessary.
