Responsibilities
Job Summary
- Provide exceptional service adhering to safety, quality, and customer service standards, fostering a positive work environment aligned with hospital values.
- Perform delegated nursing skills, including activities of daily living, patient monitoring, nutritional support, and other clinical activities per standards and policies.
- Assist with skills within scope for unlicensed personnel, such as specimen collection, equipment use, restraint monitoring, and elimination procedures, communicating with the healthcare team.
- Complete unit-specific tasks like patient admission/discharge, environmental organization, and others.
- Perform and document point-of-care testing, assist with mobility, hygiene, grooming, dietary, toileting, and elimination needs.
- Assist with patient transport.
- Complete clerical duties using fax, computers, transcription, phones, and copying machines.
- Follow emergency and safety procedures, maintaining a safe, comfortable environment for patients and families.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA
- External candidates: Certification as CNA, CMA, or EMT; current and in good standing; or enrolled in nursing school with fundamentals completed. LPNs may apply. Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills required.
- Internal candidates: Same as external or at least 1 year of experience with UofL Health and completion of CA fundamentals class.
- Ability to read, interpret, follow detailed instructions, and document accurately. Ability to establish effective relationships with patients, families, and staff.
