Adjunct Faculty Member - College of Social Sciences / Leadership Studies / American Studies

Christopher Newport University invites applications for an Adjunct Faculty Member in the College of Social Sciences, Leadership Studies, and American Studies. Responsibilities include teaching individual courses as needed in Leadership Studies and related topics.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in Leadership Studies and American Studies as needed, applying effective instruction and assessment practices.


• Provide high-quality instruction to students and maintain course syllabi and learning outcomes aligned with program standards.


• Complete official transcripts for hire and participate in a CNU-sponsored background check as part of the hiring process.

Qualifications

• Earned graduate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant discipline.


• 18 completed semester hours of related graduate coursework.


• Demonstrated ability for excellent teaching.

Department Information

The Department of Leadership and American Studies at Christopher Newport University has 16 faculty members and offers a second major and minor in Leadership Studies, and a major and minor in American Studies. The Leadership Studies minor won the Outstanding Leadership Program Award in 2019 from the Association of Leadership Educators. The second major in Leadership Studies began in Fall 2020.
