Purpose of Position: Adjunct Faculty Members, Department of Leadership and American Studies
Responsibilities
The CNU College of Social Sciences is accepting applications from prospective adjunct faculty members to teach individual courses, as needed, in the following areas:
- Leadership Studies – Self-discovery and group dynamics
- Leadership Studies – Leadership theory and perspectives
- Leadership Studies – Values and ethics in leadership
- Leadership Studies – Leading adaptive change
- Leadership Studies – Leadership analysis of historical figures and situations
- Leadership Studies – Leadership in complex contexts (systems and cultures)
- Leadership Studies – Special topics in area of expertise
In addition to demonstrated ability for excellent teaching, candidates must:
- Hold an earned graduate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant discipline, with 18 completed semester hours of related graduate coursework
- Provide official transcripts at the time of hire
- Complete a CNU-sponsored background check
Departmental Information
The Department of Leadership and American Studies at Christopher Newport University is composed of 16 faculty and offers a second major and a minor in Leadership Studies, and a major and minor in American Studies. The Leadership Studies minor won the Outstanding Leadership Program Award in 2019 from the Association of Leadership Educators. The second major in Leadership Studies began in Fall 2020.
