Harbor is seeking a Medical Office Assistant to join our Toledo team. The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for patient care under the direction of medical leadership and/or a licensed health care professional.
Position is full-time, 1st shift.
Overview
The Medical Office Assistant provides clinical and clerical support to ensure quality patient care and customer service within Harbor, a mental health and substance use treatment provider.
Responsibilities
- Assist provider with patient care and provide patient/family education.
- Assist patients with medication prescriptions and testing procedures as directed by providers.
- Respond to patient needs when contacted by phone or in person; triage calls as needed.
- May fill in for front desk staff when required.
- Answer and/or triage patient calls and support clinical staff and providers as needed.
- Provide timely, quality service to internal and external customers and strive for patient satisfaction.
- Document clearly and efficiently in accordance with Harbor guidelines and leadership.
- Attend meetings as appropriate and participate in office committees as assigned.
- Stay current with trends related to essential job competencies and demonstrate ongoing growth.
- In providing billable services, meet or exceed unit expectations established by Harbor.
- May float to other locations to accommodate client or agency needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in Mental Health preferred.
- Must be able to perform clinical and clerical duties as needed.
- Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills and a strong commitment to patient satisfaction.
- Proficient in data entry and able to navigate Microsoft Windows-based applications.
- Clear and effective communication with a variety of people and a team player mindset.
- When applicable, non-licensed staff will be required to complete 20 hours of CEUs every 24 months.
- BLS and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.
