MCS is hiring for an Assistant Project Manager in Tampa, FL. This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits.

The Assistant Project Manager must demonstrate strong organizational skills, time management abilities, and the capability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Assistant Project Manager will require good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team setting. It is important that candidates keep abreast of industry trends and developments, as well as applicable Government regulations.

Typical Duties Include

  • Assisting the electrical director in the development and distribution of project documents such as project budgets, project schedules, scope statements, and project plans to the project team.
  • Executing project management administrative and bookkeeping tasks, including managing invoices, purchase orders, and inventory reports, among other financial documents.
  • Supervising the project procurement process and maintaining detailed logs of material status, tracking, delivery schedules, and other critical items.
  • Accompanying the director and/or project managers to meetings with project clients to assess their needs and define project requirements, acceptance criteria, and project timelines.
  • Serving as the liaison between the director, project team, and project clients throughout the project life cycle.
  • Assisting project managers in monitoring project progress and team members' performance, and providing updated reports to the director on a regular basis.
  • Scheduling stakeholder meetings, recording meeting minutes, archiving pertinent communications, and documenting and generating reports.
  • Fostering cross-team collaboration to assist project team members in completing project tasks and producing deliverables, and promote a team-centered culture within the electrical group.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements: Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field (preferred).

Certification Requirements: Ability to obtain a Florida State JLA (Jessica Lunsford Act) Badge.

Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for effective collaboration with project stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges and find practical solutions.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and adjust project plans accordingly.
  • Effective organizational skills for managing time, tasks, and team performance.
  • Proficient at multitasking, prioritizing, and responding promptly to project needs.
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities to enhance project efficiency and working independently when required.
  • The ability to travel outside the Greater Tampa Area.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Mission Critical Solutions (MCS) is a leading-edge technology solutions provider headquartered in Tampa, Florida. MCS provides a broad range of Technology products and services organized in six core lines of business – Telecommunications, Structured Cabling, Audio-Visual, Security and Life Safety Systems, Electrical Distribution Systems, and Unified Communications.
  • Work assignments may vary based on client requirements.
  • Work may be performed inside a large facility. An inside environment may be a cubicle (close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting).
  • Work may be performed in the field under various environmental conditions (hot, dusty, cold, wet, icy, or windy).

Schedule

  • Regular attendance following an established work schedule is mandatory.
  • Ability to work any shift/designated hours required and to work during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work.
  • This position may require night and weekend work and travel to areas with varying field conditions.

Physical Requirements

  • May require climbing ladders, working at heights and in small, confined spaces; ability to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended durations; operate in noisy environments with temperature variations; lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Sitting at a desk, phone use, PC/laptop use; may require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files.

Equipment & Vehicles

  • General office equipment includes PCs/laptops, telephones, copiers, servers, switches, routers, and other computer equipment.
  • General field equipment includes hand tools, power tools, ladders, aerial/motorized lifts, and test equipment.
  • May require operation of motor vehicles; valid driver\'s license and clean driving record required; subject to motor vehicle record checks. Safety and OSHA standards apply.

Travel

  • Travel requirements vary; not all positions require travel. A current passport is required for overseas travel.

Other Essential Functions

  • Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required certifications or licenses; failure to do so may disqualify the candidate.
  • Professional behavior, teamwork, and the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with external customers including government, military, and contractor personnel at all levels, and with individuals at all levels of the company.
  • Office dress is typically business casual; field dress must not pose safety hazards. OSHA standards apply.
  • May require US government security clearance; if you possess dual citizenship you may need to relinquish foreign citizenship to obtain clearance.
